@Dwalrus @Mr_NutterButter in that case they learn that people aren't going to care about them so they have to fend for themselves, and then when people come around that do "care about them" they devote their allegiance to them. those people are usually not good people, though, and the kid will learn how to be a bad person from them.

the parents have already done an evil thing, against human nature, to their kid for not caring about them. human nature is to care for your own offspring. the child learns from that.

not everything that is learned must be taught.
