The weirdest thing about the inflation is, that since the cheap stuff is getting more expensive faster then the luxurious shit, it makes all of it look a lot cheaper.

For instance, food at home went from 1/5th to 1/2 of food in restaurant. :ablobthinkingeyes:

@LukeAlmighty yeah that is proof in the pudding that a non-insignificant amount inflation is actually bullshit.

@beardalaxy
I am not sure about that.
I just assumed, that the more luxurious shit had a bigger margin to cut, while the cheap stuff didn't.

I will have to think about it.

@LukeAlmighty part of it is that, but you would think that people selling more expensive stuff would want to continue making the same profit margin lest they see a slow down in revenue, or their brand being seen as cheap, etc. The only reason to think they wouldn't do this is that they care about the customer's purchasing power in these trying times, but knowing modern day capitalism that's completely false. You have shit like rings of power xD

A decent example of the other side of the spectrum is Dollar Tree turning into $1.25 Tree. It's not really because of inflation, although that certainly is part of it. The real reason is that absolutely nobody wanted to work for them because they paid minimum wage. They were shutting down stores all the time because there weren't enough workers. The price increase of their goods (that only require pennies to produce) was mainly so that they could pay workers more so that it would be more enticing to get a job there, which doubles as a way to hire people who aren't retarded, felons, or both.

I can see a big reason for prices on cheap things rising being the cost of gasoline, actually. Diesel is at record highs right now and much of the world is facing a (completely self-inflicted) energy crisis. That will increase the cost of shipping for sure so it'll be included in the price of the product. It doesn't cost more to ship an expensive item versus a cheap item as long as they're of the same relative size/weight.
