got some great work done on the game today. was going to do more work when i got home but of course, no matter what method of syncing files i use something always gets fucked up somehow, so i gotta do some cleaning up for a little bit instead.

ended up working on an NPC's quest for about 8 hours today, finished the whole thing. it technically isn't completable until i add in another quest, since it relies on an item you can only acquire by completing that quest, but if you have that item the one i created today is totally finished!

@beardalaxy Do you use Git or any other form of version control or do you just copy files manually?

@xianc78 git is actually more complex than i need it to be. too much of a hassle, to be honest. i just need files to automatically sync over and i don't need detailed versioning. i'm the only guy working on the project, and it's just between 2 PCs, so using git just seems unnecessary for the time being.

i use google drive sync. it's the best way i've found to sync the game's folder between 2 PCs. other ones have had other stipulations or are just harder to use and not really worth it, or i've had other issues when trying them out (i've tried onedrive, syncthing, and nextcloud).

the problem was basically that i had gotten a new laptop and had to set up the sync from my PC to that laptop again. annoying that i had to mess around with it a little bit but it's still the most convenient i've used.

i wish i could just work off of a flash drive but RPG Maker doesn't like that very much, files start getting corrupted unfortunately. and of course, the slower speed.

as for the versioning that i do actually do, though, i routinely make full backups and store them in multiple places, both on and offline. i've got about 20 different versions of the game all zipped up just in case i ever need to go back and look at them or grab some file that got corrupted or something like that. plus it'll be kind of cool to look back on them one day. google drive also has pretty basic versioning too so if something screws up on a sync and really gets fucked i'd be able to recover the past few versions of a file if i wanted to.

it works for me most of the time, this is only the second time the official app has fucked up and it was pretty easy to fix. last time, i think it may have been because my laptop was just in the process of shitting the bed xD

DO AS YAW BEEN COMMAMDED TO DO AS YO SUPERIAH PHARAOH KING SAID YOU MUHFUKKIH RAYCISS ASS BITCH :alert_red:
