@Mr_NutterButter he pulled stupid shit on people so i don't really give a fuck. he didn't do it with just the switch either, he's been around since i wanna say the xbox days.

it's like, imagine some guy made a closed-source program that you could employ on windows and it would automatically crack any software you downloaded, but you had to pay like $50 for it. then if you tried to change anything with the program it would literally just fry your motherboard and all your components. it's even worse than that because the pirated software you had to pay to get access to also.

like it isn't just some guy that made a way to hack your switch and do things like run homebrew apps on it and backup save files and stuff, or run android or linux, these guys were 100% in it for the piracy scene and they were charging people for it. and they were stealing code from other devs and adding malicious shit to it. just not a good situation in general.

the other guys he was in cahoots with got off and he took the fall for them. the risk you take for making dirty money at someone else's expense i guess.

i also have no idea how much team xecuter actually made in profit but it seems like it was fairly lucrative if they stuck around so long. perhaps he'll be able to pay a decent chunk of that fine via liquidation or something.

i think fines in general are pretty retarded unless there was actual money lost, but nintendo can kind of argue that there was because they were likely doing repairs on bricked consoles or at least spending time telling people they couldn't repair their bricked console, and in the case of normal piracy it's really hard to prove that you're actually losing money but in this case, it's probably more likely because normies were still paying money to pirate games instead of buying them or just grabbing them for free. 10 mil is pretty damn steep but again, idgaf because the dude and the team in general is pretty scummy so he's kinda' just getting what was coming to him.
