And here I thought that online stores that constantly have 50% off sales are just shady!

@olmitch @coolboymew bro 3 of my friends got duped by some lightsaber scam website because of that xD

@olmitch @coolboymew they showed these pictures of amazing lightsabers on the website and they all had different designs for each character. They were like 80% off or something and still $45. So they all bought them and they turned out to be all exactly the same cheap plastic, tiny rave lightsabers that changed color when you hit them on something xD they even had a strobe mode xD

When they were explaining it to me I was like oh, that's cool. I have no interest in star wars but good for them. Then the packages actually came and I was like.... Oh no xD that's when I looked at the website and it was SO OBVIOUSLY A SCAM man, I swear most people really are NPCs.

Mypillow has a 40% or 50% sale going all the time but the products aren't scam, they are actually quite nice. I have the sheets, pillows, and bath towel
@olmitch @beardalaxy yeah that's kind of the marketing trick "sales all the times". On top of that they have an idiot catch in that you literally give away coupon codes all the times. It's literally what the picture talks about

The products being nice or not are irrelevant from the trick

@coolboymew @olmitch look at all these brands that advertise through youtuber sponsorships. there is always some sort of deal going on or some sort of code you can use to get them for cheaper, and even if you can find more quality for the end price somewhere else people still buy them in droves because a youtuber talked about it.

case in point: raycons.

@beardalaxy @olmitch I knew raycons would be utter garbage. They're actually a branded version of some cheap chinese clone

An Ashens like youtuber did a review and yeah

@MasterSimper @coolboymew @olmitch a guy once tried to rope us into a real estate pyramid scheme right out of high school xD it was so obvious, he was giving us all compliments and stuff.

@beardalaxy @coolboymew @olmitch oh I knew it was a pyramid scheme joined it anyways because the soda was actually pretty good, not because I was gonna sell anything
@MasterSimper @beardalaxy @olmitch When I was desperately searching for jobs I found this realllly fucking suspicious salesman group, they had conferences and all that. The website gave me bad vibes, but it turned out they might have been legit because they did do stuff for local companies... but companies big enough to be able to hire their own employees, so, bah, one of those many shitty useless contractors middlemen companies
