@justnormalkorean >worst player
>roleplays despite game mechanics discouraging it

They are 3.5e nerds, of course they care more about following the rules to the letter than actual fun.

@Dicer @justnormalkorean for a lot of people, the rules are the fun. otherwise, they'd join drama club. the rules are what makes it a game. hell, i even like nerfing my characters on purpose to make them more interesting.

@beardalaxy @justnormalkorean The way the first player played had only to do with his character, even when he was told no to a drow, he went along with an elf and played how he wanted.
How is that a bad player?
All this tells me is these people have not dealt with players who don't even care about their character to keep their character sheet around.

@Dicer @justnormalkorean more of an annoying player than a bad one probably lol. there are way worse examples of bad players than that.

@justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer Explain to me a normal person (Spastic) why any straight sex haver would play D&D
@justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer I just replayed pathfinder kingmaker and WOTR on the puter cuz I don't want to associate with nerds plus I have no friends who are gay innit
@justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer The perks of being a ladyboy I guess I just have to purchase (pirate) my own games
@justnormalkorean @Dan_Hulson @beardalaxy @Dicer If you've played D&D before (if you haven't, it's fun, I promise), you've got a good chunk of the game down already.

If you haven't, the mechanics are pretty simple.

Note: savescumming will save your ass in portions, don't be ashamed of doing it.
@benzene @justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer It's nah a bad game I did prefer Divinity Original sin 2 overall though innit
@Dan_Hulson @justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer I'm just a sucker for games with a shit ton of character customization.

Yes, I was that guy who spent wayyyyy too long on his Sims house growing up.
@benzene @justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer If only I had stayed home and played The Sims instead of going out sex having and drug taking and having children
@Dan_Hulson @justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer to be fair, I've done (and still do) drugs regularly so it's not like I was boring.
@justnormalkorean @beardalaxy @Dicer Also, it is pretty good and worth a play through but installing the toybox mod is a must

@justnormalkorean @Dicer usually, bad player = bad person. you can be bad at playing d&d if you just kind of like suck at tactics combat or something i guess, but most people when they refer to "bad players" are talking about people doing shitty stuff.

things like fudging dice rolls, cheating on their character sheet, insisting that their character can naturally break the rules because they're a god or something, or getting pissy with the DM that they can't have things their way (usually in this case it's stuff like OP homebrew).

it gets worse though, there are people who like make weird, awkward, even sexual advances toward other players in the game and just generally make people feel uncomfortable. i've heard stories of people getting physically violent over their characters dying and stuff.

@beardalaxy @Dicer Half of that is just cheating and there should be a distinction between the two. Meta-gaming the DM is pretty much cheating as well.

@beardalaxy @justnormalkorean @Dicer I was gonna say charging ahead of the party and opening doors but I see we meant objectively bad.

@badneighbor @Dicer @justnormalkorean yeah doing stuff like that, being a murderhobo, that can lead to an annoying player if the rest of the party isn't in on it. they only turn into a bad one though if you talk to them about it and they still don't change their behavior.

i had a campaign collapse a little while ago because two of the guys playing didn't really care about their characters all that much and would just constantly get the party into needless trouble. when i was doling out in-game punishment for it they quit.

@beardalaxy @badneighbor @Dicer tbh it's better if players quit or are removed if they don't wanna play.
@beardalaxy @badneighbor @Dicer @justnormalkorean how to solve murderhoboism:
>inject realism
>players murderhobo
>suddenly the story stops because it's a medieval fantasy game
>they've just killed the only one who could advance the quest and he was illiterate
>npc was also the cousin of the local king
>King Npc has infinite resources for hunting them down and will succeed in TPK

@SpurgAnon @badneighbor @Dicer @justnormalkorean the law caught up to them and they got arrested and were going to go to trial for their crimes lol. of course there would be a way out of it, i wasn't gonna' game end it there, but they were annoyed they got caught lol.

@beardalaxy @badneighbor @Dicer @justnormalkorean guess that works, but it's also fun to run the entire rest of the campaign as nothing but them trying to "fix" the problem without realizing they're only making things worse and that consequences are inevitable
