@picandor yeah, obviously we can't limit everything past a certain point, but i agree most people in general are extremely stupid. after working retail you come to realize that.

we have a sign we put out whenever we leave the cash register that says "please push button for service" with a big arrow pointing to the orange button on the phone in front of the sign.

i'm not even joking, half the people that see that sign have no idea what to do. my manager said "the sign only works if you speak english" and i had to tell her that, no, it's not that. EVERYONE knows what symbols look like. you'd think if there's nobody at the register but there's a sign telling you to click a button, you'd just click the button. but nooooo, they won't click it.

and the even worse part is that a line forms behind them because everybody just assumes that the first person in line knows what they're doing.
