found the source of the memory leak btw, but it is from a plugin with obfuscated code so i just have to hope and pray that the author gets back to me. the only method they have is discord too which kinda sucks, hopefully they check it because they haven't posted in the rpgmakerweb server since 2020.

worst case, i know of another way i can do what the plugin does. it's just not going to look as cool. rather take that than a memory leak crash though.

@beardalaxy RPG Maker can memory leak?? you learn something new every day

@tomie the default engine (of MV at least) can if you have a very outdated version. Otherwise though, probably not. This is a plugin that generates an effect, but turns out the command to clear the effect is just visual... It doesn't clear it from memory. So every time it gets added it adds a few MB to memory that just stays there forever. As it stands, if you have a certain item equipped the game will crash in 30 minutes.

I could probably redo how I'm adding the effect so that the memory leak wouldn't be a real issue, but it would still be there and could theoretically cause performance issues if the right conditions are met. At that point I may as well create my own effect instead that won't cause the leak.
