@xyfdi what would you classify the old call of duty games as? New ones are definitely quake, would those still be quake? What about ghost recon? That seems kind of like its own thing, tactics shooter.

@NotImportant @xyfdi hmm, what about goldeneye 007? It isn't fast like Quake is, but the levels are a bit nonlinear and mission focused which betrays half life's more "corridor shooter" design. Goldeneye doesn't have platforming elements either. I'm pretty sure you can't even jump.

Call of duty doesn't really have platforming either, but it probably is more like half life in all of their campaigns and the early games' multiplayer.

I'm not trying to be pedantic but it's interesting to try and think of an FPS unlike those two in any regard.

@beardalaxy @xyfdi I'm mainly going on how powerful you feel. If you feel like a badass killer than quake, if you feel like it's you versus bad odds than half-life.

@NotImportant @xyfdi yeah that makes sense i suppose. i think that probably still puts ghost recon in its own category, since you aren't really by yourself and command a little squad.

i think you do feel a certain level of power in all shooters, or really just all video games except the ones that are deliberately trying to make you not feel that like fear and hunger.

based on that it depends entirely on how good you are
