if you're wondering how much impact internet flamewars and making rage posts online has to some degree, just look at the cell phone market.
You're not allowed to have user controllable phones where the battery can be replaced without heatgunning the damn thing and breaking the screen or something unless it's the cheapest prepaid phone on earth.
@sendpaws Yeah, people got gaslit into thinking it's for water resistance and no jack and stuff, but phones made of plastic with removable backs and headphone jacks had suitable water resistance ratings at a certain point too. And then people somehow feel a need to die on those hills?
Of course preaching to the choir but well, normalfags really just unquestionably say that the modern $800 to $1,200 slabs of glass are better than a $200 plastic one you can have a chance of saving. Like what is crazy to me is there's a significant amount of people to where, it's not even a regretful acceptance of the status quo, but instead they will throw a hissy fit if you mention "I wish to replace the battery myself" as if to defend the practice of practically welding the phone shut and serializing parts.
But whatever I am also part of the problem I got a 13 mini that I'm going to ride until it dies. But sucks that it will cost $90 to get them to replace the battery. If I could use my old Xperia on modern networks I would honestly still use it
