I have family in Utah and more or less, my immediate close family are all Mormons. I am not religious myself or a Republican or Democrat. I have been to the state multiple times now to visit my family. What I see firsthand is a lot of those awkward Liberal teens with dyed hair but overwhelming, of course it's Conservative.

I said on the 10th to my mother "There is a high possibility the shooter is actually a disgruntled Republican."
I'm waiting on more information but it is not uncommon for me to see that many people do not like the Trump administration. I was fully expecting the shooter to be from either side and on the radical side of the spectrum.

This still doesn't change the way the Left's reaction to this tragedy alone has completely annihilated any chance that I will ever choose to coexist with them in the future.

@veru Salt Lake County is much more liberal than the rest of the state because it is where the city is, but as far as cities go it is still far less liberal than many others in the country. We've also had a bit of a demographic shift with a lot of people moving from California over here, which has also been contributing to the ever-increasing housing costs.

From the information that we currently know, I don't think the shooter was a Republican or a conservative. Comes from a Republican family, and allegedly donated to the Trump campaign in 2020 when he was 17, but that's it. People forget 2020 was five years ago, plus he wasn't even an adult yet. 5 years is plenty of time for someone to change, or for someone to stop trying to hide their actual beliefs. Spoken as someone who also grew up Mormon and didn't leave the church until I was 19... I can completely see a 17 year old going along with their parents and community by any means necessary and then moving away from it in adulthood. Going from that to assassinating someone is insane, but it is indicative of the current state of affairs.
