Deadass, I would go to the highest mountain in tibet and live a monastic lifestyle the rest of my life if it meant doing it would somehow drop child abuse rates in large magnitudes. Giving my ID to a company so I can look at porn of all things is piddly in comparison if it actually does meaningfully produce results. Oh no, if it gets leaked everyone will know I watch porn! Yeah me and like, everybody else. Who fucking cares man.

The only other REAL solution I can think of that isn't some variation of the same thing is to just start killing people who do shit to kids. Rule through fear. I have yet to hear any other actually good solutions to children getting groomed online other than "the parents should deal with it!" Well, clearly they aren't, so what happens next? Take the kids away from the parents? Maybe, but I don't think we have the infrastructure for that and I trust a company with my ID more than I trust government workers with children. The ID shit FORCES parents to pay attention. Kids will find away around it absolutely, like they do with everything else, but it WILL lower the amount who do so.

I do really understand the hesitation and everything, especially because the society we live in is very low trust. But like, genuinely what is the alternative? Just continuing with the status quo...? Meanwhile you have trannies going against these bills because they still want access to grooming kids into LGBT shit. These are not problems we had back when the internet was smaller and it was generally harder to access. We can't just keep going as if the internet is still like that, which sucks I know, but this is I think the least extreme solution that will result in the most amount of benefit.

@beardalaxy it won't do shit to drop child abuse rates and will do everything to uphold the current late stage capitalism, which is the direct cause of child abuse because that's just how it is in the system where it's all about abusing and disposing of resources, and children are the most precious resource of them all

I am of the opinion that *I* shouldn't be inconvenienced because somebody out there is doing crimes, and you can just post your full name, photo, and social security number here to practice what you preach

@beardalaxy not to mention, that these companies you mentioned are the first in line to groom children, you're seriously going to give your personal (and by proxy, your potential child's) personal data to, like, Microsoft that put LGBT and BLM in videogames, arranged Covid, and their most important person got STD on Epstein's island, just in order to play Minecraft in peace with an enabled chat?

Follow

@tomie that's fair too, i just don't see that much of a better option without going to extremes (which i would be okay with, just saying)

fuckin every company and agency under the sun has some level of corruption. maybe the only one i fully respect is valve lmao.
