I am sorry, but I don't get it.
How was that gameplay loop affected? The chilling/mining/exploring has not changed since release. Only exception being the (optional) cruisers, that in my opinion only expand the chilling/exploring, since you can now do so without feeling like you're leaving your home behind.
This exact gameplay loop is why NMS might be the first place on my game list to try as soon as the VR goggles arrive. I can't wait to see the vast universe in front of me from the comfort of my cruiser. The tiny ship would just not do it.
