Probably gonna have to do a clean windows install because something is TERMINALLY fucked. I can't update at all. And before you say "just use Linux derp" THE SAME SHIT BUT WORSE HAS HAPPENED TO ME OVER THERE.

Apparently the partition was labeled as a basic partition instead of a system one so windows could boot from it but not update from it what the actual fuck

With the help of my IT wizard brother, we were able to get the partition switched over and the updates working again! No clean install required! What a fucking legend.

@Kagekokoro dude when a similar thing happened on mint it corrupted my boot partition and I had to manually rebuild it, shit sucked. I think it was that I hadn't updated in a while and when I did something updated out of order. Just my theory.

@beardalaxy i would never recommend using linux, as it is proprietary malware; as such, "terminally fucked" would be its default state. as far as kernels for the gnu operating system go, you should use gnu hurd or gnu linux-libre which respect your freedom.

@fey I'm just not going to use a computer at all at that point

@fey @beardalaxy Maybe he just prefers freedom from tinkertrooning and freedom of hardware choice, not your capital‐eff proper‐noun Three Jewish Freedumbs
@mikuphile @beardalaxy man wants the freedom to be enslaved... arostotle was right about human nature

@pettanko no fucking clue. I have no idea how long it has been like that either but I'm assuming a very long time. The weird thing is that I could still boot from it, but windows update couldn't see it.

@TheTeka it wasn't even downloading security updates so that's kind of necessary. But I noticed it because the gif keyboard didn't work anymore xD they changed to giphy when tenor died. Few more features got added too but I don't really use any of them.

@beardalaxy
>security patches
In my understanding, those won't work.
Just use your gut instinct and the base version of Windows Defender to avoid viruses.
