One of the greatest contributors to journalism of our era is still rotting, with declining health, in a concrete cube, isolated, in the the highest-security prison of the UK. For *more than 5 years*, after 7 years of isolation and political asylum in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, qualified by the UN as "arbitrary detention", after 3+ years of house arrest...
The slow-motion murder is still going on, torture by process, unfair, outrageous as f#ck.
Not much to celebrate...
#Assange leave for appeal *partially* granted.
Extradition decision *will* be appealed, but only on a few, selected grounds (# 4, 5) ie. discrimination he would face by not being a US citizen, and therefore not benefiting from the protection offered by the first amendment.
"The lawyers have until 2 pm on 24th May to file an agreed case outline.".
Beyond the boring and torturous UK judicial process, this decision acknowledges #FreeAssange case IS about freedom of speech.
