Okay, so that latest of episode of One Punch Man...it started off bad, but well within what I've come to expect from OPM Season 3 at this point. Like, if this had been a JewTube fan animation, I'd have considered parts of it pretty good. Of course, it was still complete and utter trash even compared to Season 2 - and it actually also cut a fair amount of fighting, including Sekingar showing that even he is capable of killing monsters. Given just how slow and devoid of action this season has been so far, REMOVING action scenes is pretty much unforgivable. On the whole tho, I'd have considered it a 3/10 episode...until we got to the Rhino Wrestler fight.
I don't know why, but for some reason the quality of the episode fell off a cliff once Big Rhino started going on his rampage. The artwork was shit, the animation was abominable - and that's what they even bothered animating, because WOW did they resort to so many shortcuts! The ferocity of the battle, the overwhelming strength of Rhino Wrestler, the desperation of the heroes, the speed and impact of the moves - NONE of it was effectively conveyed for even a second, not a single part of the fight worked. Hell, I used to think that the comparisons to Berserk 2016 were maybe a bit too harsh, but thinking about it now, that series actually had a couple of fight scenes that kinda, sorta worked. OPM Season 3 hasn't had a single fight scene yet that's even average.
The only good thing about this episode was a few shots where Captain Mizuki looked cute, that's it. What an absolute abortion of an episode, for real...
