A month or so ago the politicos were all nervously watching One Nation climb rapidly in popularity and tentatively trying to warn everyone that the anti-immigration populist party might outflank the right-wing(ish) LNP if something wasnt done about it.

This rise was, and still is, so unprecedented that i think most pundits didnt want to state the obvious outcome they could see coming because they werent quite sure if they were all being trolled or the polls were fudged or something. The LNP couldnt possibly lose actual ground to Pauline Hanson. Even with the LNP's numbers down and the coalition in tatters, this is Pauline fucking Hanson we're talking about. Long time joke candidate, punching bag of the smug left and the one woman in politics you were allowed to make fun of for her appearance or mannerisms because of her pariah status. Buuuuuut the weeks dragged on and multiple polls were confirming their worst fears.

Fast forward to now and the political establishment is steadily approaching a near doomsday scenario as they realise what's happening. Its not just whatever's left of the dying LNP's boomercon base getting siphoned into One Nation, its also some of the left-wing Labor Party's base getting slowly chipped away as people begin to understand that Labor are also totally uninterested in doing anything about immigration.

These are just polls, of course, but what you're looking at in these images here is something that was completely unthinkable just last year. That is, Pauline Hanson's One Nation has crawled over the corpse of the LNP and is vying for first place with Labor. And if that wasn't mindboggling enough, nearly 30% percent of WOMEN polled currently think immigration is enough of a concern to them to warrant jumping ship from the parties of Good Feels and Nice Vibes to instead vote for the party which has endured something like 30 years of being painted as the Ozwaffen SS.
