The most frustrating part about Stellar Blade isnt the voice acting, its the localization.

I'm playing new game plus on the korean dub but its got the same subtitles as the English. However since the names of people and places is all western it's really obvious when they say those things aloud but its not in the subtitles that the subtitles just dont match.

Theres a lot of little datalogs you can read and even written recaps of events in the main story that have important details that are missing from the English localization. Like how the final boss created both the AI the robots worship AND the monsters you fight. That detail isnt in the localization at all, and it sets up an important dichotomy between the final boss and that AI, as they both kinda want the same thing since one created the other for that purpose but are going about it very differently.

Story was actually really good but only because I did all that reading and exploring. If you breeze thru it on easy and dont read anything like a games journalist you will hate it
So the entire premise of Stellar Blade is this. Spoilers below

>climate change irreversible even with fancy sci-fi science
>humanity will die out if we do nothing
>worlds only man that matters makes an AI to help solve this problem
>AI solves problem by starting over with humanoid androids
>not_like_that.jpg
>war between humans and androids happens
>androids win
>last humans hide underground, includes the one guy who matters
>that dude gets desperate, tries sketchy experiments to evolve humans into something that can survive the environment and beat the evil AI's android army
>creates nothing but monsters
>dude gets turned himself
>turns our how monsterous you become is all in your head. Main dude keeps calm while the other survivors, given how bleak the situation is, go insane then mutate into freaks
>the freaks reproduce. The one dude appauled that this is the genetic successor to humanity
>Androids fight the monsters, lose
>evil AI purges several big parts of their space station to get the monsters out, it all falls to earth and destroys everything
>evil AI wipes their memories, tells them they are the humans and all the mechanical body parts is normal in the current year, and earth is all monsters
>they all believe it
>some androids on earth survive, they also think they are human, but they are ugly because they dont have access to the parts they need to repair themselves like new
>the one guy who matters experiments with turning androids into monsters like he did with the people, pleased to learn they dont totally lose their minds but its not perfect
>pretends to be a robot person and helps make a city of the survivors, a functioning civilization is made
>waits for the evil AI to send newer robots
>each wave it sends shows more promising conversion results
>game starts
>shit happens
>main character learns the truth but isnt sure she believes it
>you the player can choose to kill the dude and enable the monsters to be wiped out, or merge together and piss off the evil AI. Three possible endings

Easiest 4/5 ive ever rated. This game is fuckin excellent tbh
