The GOP tradition of losing to Democrats. This isn't an extreme path that Trump is pushing for. Schumer ignored blue slips to push Biden picks through. The blue slip tradition is already dead. Grassley will not bring it back no matter how much he damages the Trump Presidency. Democrats will not approve anyone Trump picks, so sticking with blue slips just means Trump will never be able to fill these positions.
