@hideki Fediverse needs people who are who they want to be online, and it has millions of them.

@person yeah! It needs people true to themselves, those are the most interesting ones.

@realcaseyrollins Everything gets ruined once you get normies into it, they start yo make demands, they start to get offended, they always want everything catered to them, and this place is alrrady very fun filled with people that twitter and facebook do not want.

@hideki But the #Fediverse is the perfect place for that to happen IMHO. They can have normie instances that cater to them. What’s wrong with that? We have leftie instances that cater to lefies…

@realcaseyrollins also we "kind of" had a normie instance already here with Gab and they ended up leaving the fediverse because we were too much for them to handle.

@newt @realcaseyrollins yeah but they at least have the decency to isolate themselves

@hideki @realcaseyrollins I know how to keep the normies out. Talk about the shape of the world we’re living on, and maybe drop a couple of hints about things you’ve heard about from ww2. Then again, it does seem like a rather cruel thing to do to them.

@hideki @realcaseyrollins Then again, I think I’m usually too doubtful to commit to cheap defense like that.

@realcaseyrollins

Could not agree with you more. Nobody wants to be on a platform exclusively populated with fringe lunatics.

@hideki
@realcaseyrollins @hideki I know what you’re trying to get at but the reality is the fediverse is full of hyper creative internet people, if you want to see normal people check out Parler. 10’s of thousands of votes on posts but a lot of those are just moms and dads reposting things from more mainstream sources for their friends who they met in person, not through the Internet.

I think one of the charms of the fedi is that people aren’t chasing clout because there just isn’t that big of a user base. Instead it’s a bunch of people who are super into Internet culture hanging out, and I’m not sure trying to grow it that drastically will make it better
@hideki It's ok to say wrong things to have fun online, is what I thought to myself as I was heading back home.
