How would you ask "what year is this?" if you suddenly woke up in the far future and noone understood what you are saying because your language died long ago?.
@hideki how would you know if they were even using the same year system? 
@karolat our current calendar system is 500 years old, do you think it would go away that easy?

. Also imagining that all languages got standarized into one "main" language or something like that, different to what we have now.
