I really think that social networks (fedi included) are not suitable to sharing art.

i WOULD consider Pixelfed an alternative, but the problem is that Pixelfed has several arbitrary artificial limits that don't work well with art galleries.

@hideki There should be a site, minimalist, where it's for artists, and you click on someone and it takes you to their digital gallery, without all the clutter

@Jazzy_Butts also where you can be (re-)discovered easily, in places like this your rediscoverability is literally zero (and even lower, because search never works as it should)

@hideki yes, too temporal

art needs a gallery that is stuck in time

sure you can "tweet" out something saying "I added a new thing", but the gallery needs to be stable somewhere imho

@mistermonster probably, it would just need categories or folders or something like that.

@mistermonster how would i go on about searching for post from an user only with a certain tag?

@hideki I don't know, I don't use pixelfed.

@dansup how would you use hashtags in pixelfed to categorize a user's content for searchability?
@hideki ideal place is printing your art and putting it on the fridge
@hideki @hideki Hosting a website portfolio is a challenge for artists and photographers, which explains their reliance upon sites like Instagram and Twitter. Hosting websites is often simplified (read: bloated with Javascript) with sites like Squarespace and WiX. If only making a lightweight portfolio website creating tool were possible.
