The removal of Spinster from F-Droid is yet another proof how extremely subjective hate speech is and completely unsuitable as a moderation standart.

I somewhat like sifting through garbage.
I agree. That's not the problem here. I'm not saying you can't block people. I'm saying that hate speech is anything you want it to be, so if you use it as a standart for moderation, you are a shitty moderator and that we shouldn't legitimatize it in culture.
I agree at least that I don't like having *other people* make that call for me which is why I have my own instance, but this instance MRF's a few others such as kiwifarms becuase I really just don't want to read or deal with that garbage, and my block list is super long
The only reason the concept of "free speech" has any intellectual validity is because of the state model. Because we have no choice in state participation, when states censor speech, they censor our ability to express ourselves. Corporate monopoly / union (same shit really) censorship is the next worst thing becuase it forces people into the same position: Conform or lose all ability to access ordinary services.
On an interpersonal level I see absolutely no reason why I should be expected to listen to anyone's garbage if I don't want to, and I certainly feel no moral obligation to listen to shit I find objectionable without punching whoever's saying it hard in the face.
tl;dr free speech is essentially a phantom, a spook. We only hold onto it as a best-fit concept because the architecture exists to provide something meaningful for us to be free *from.*
