>facial recognition software regularly misgenders trans people
Out of all the stupid articles, this title is the most hilarious to me. Of course an unemotional, unbiased and unfeeling computer algorithm will look at you and express the truth about your biology. What do you think would happen?
@alyx @matrix What an Orwellian term "misgendering" is. It's outright affirming that political correctness is more important than factual correctness, and that those speaking the blunt truth are in the wrong.
@ChristiJunior @alyx @matrix ah yes, the Blunt Truth
do tell me, why do you need to give a fuck about someone's sex if they, for almost all social purposes, can be considered as someone of another gender
@tuxcrafting @alyx @matrix "if they, for almost all social purposes, can be considered as someone of another gender"

Except they often can't, as the bathroom controversy from a few years ago can attest to. Trannies that can actually pass wouldn't have an issue with using the women's bathroom because nobody would suspect something was amiss, it was the obvious males and perverts that the leftists and woke capitalists went to bat for in that instance.

Also, don't pretend to be simply be asking for tolerance when what you really do is demand support and affirmation, faggot.

@ChristiJunior @alyx @matrix non-passing transgenders indeed make the situation weirder, but overall they're the minority of transgenders
and if by "support and affirmation" you mean be respected as a human being, uh, yes
@tuxcrafting
>they're the minority of transgenders
Not sure how much that's true anymore. Or rather, I'm not sure it's true anymore about the transgenders that appear in the public spotlight.

>and if by "support and affirmation" you mean be respected as a human being, uh, yes
Yes, I agree with you that this is what most trans people look for, and I generally give it to them. But @ChristiJunior is right too, in that there are very vocal ones that go well beyond that, and basically want people to bend over backwards for them.
@matrix
@alyx @tuxcrafting @ChristiJunior @matrix "support and affirmation" is a really insidious way to phrase it. Fundamentally, what you've done here is deceptively tied their humanity to whether people play along with their rejection of biological facts. That's simply not true at all.
@leyonhjelm
ah joy, this "argument" again
nobody is denying """biological facts"""
gender is not sex
gender is not tied to sex
gender is psychological and not biological
hence biology isn't even related and you're making giant assumptions in order to justify even the premise of your "argument"
@alyx @ChristiJunior @matrix @tuxcrafting
@matrix
Wasn't the ghost in a machine thing usually related to the "do we have a soul or not" discussion?
@FloatingGhost @ChristiJunior @leyonhjelm @tuxcrafting
@matrix
Yeah, I guess it kinda is. I was a bit confused since I've never seen it referenced regarding the sex/gender discussion.
