Oh boy. The author of this thread. I wonder how long it will take them to notice.

@matrix Nice mock-up; but I would have named the replier something stupid too.

@matrix AFAIK, the only good gaming forum left (outside of imageboards) is RPGCodex.

Why
@Jack @matrix Because you need a divisive topic to divide a conquer.
Something that everyone would look and agree on is not useful for the purposes of critical theory. Again, there is no "class struggle" about something so normal and obvious that everyone agrees.
@Jack @matrix That's the power of the vocal minority. if you have 50 people who really care and are offended and 9950 who don't care, The Brand are going to see 50 angry emails/blog posts/tweets upset at this and 0 from people in support of it. Maybe a few are in support of it, but they get dismissed as prejudiced. The Brand, thinking this is representative of the whole takes corrective action and changes their behavior in favor of the 0.5% of the population.
@blight
I think we need to bring back lynching to remind people just who the majority is.
@matrix
@Jack @blight @matrix
Not useful because then you create martyrs that are used as the flag of the cause

@Kagekokoro @Jack @matrix I don't want to live in a society where one group feels afraid of the other. Swinging things in the other direction with lynching is just as bad. I don't like the way things are, but I don't want to be the baddies either. I'd rather live in a society with a little more trust in each other. Where we can work in good faith to solve problems. Shit is way too divided right now, I'd rather focus on closing that divide.

But by pushing the divide even further we would than create several smaller isolated groups that would function far bigger than the current situation.
@Kagekokoro @matrix
@Jack @Kagekokoro @matrix I won't outright deny the potential efficacy of balkanized regions or something similar.

Its been shown throughout history that regions with a more homogeneous populace are typically more peaceful and have lower crime rates with a greater amount of social welfare, since it seems to be easier for people to empathize with others.

I guess the issue would be where do we draw the lines? The lines get harder to draw the less tolerant of each other we are.
@blight
The grim reality is that the line will have to be drawn at some point regardless of what some groups want. I am of the honest opinion that we are far past the point of a peaceful solution to current social tensions.
@Kagekokoro @matrix
@Jack @Kagekokoro @matrix I wouldn't be surprised honestly. Hell, even Tim Pool recently bought a few firearms. The loss of human life is still abhorant to me though.
@blight
Most people find it abhorrent but regrettably we have become proficient at killing each other over the most trivial of issues.
