@alyx @matrix it seems pretty obvious, if you take the average of her male workers who take 1.5 mins or less to cut through the board and then average it with her saw time, you'd get an average of around 5 mins. #girlboss #womynPowee
@matrix This is a great example of one of the things I hate most about how mathematics is taught. The actual fundamentals/proofs are completely divorced from all (historical) context, and reduced to "here is the formula; plug in the fucking numbers". Then, at the same time, they bog down what should *actually* be simple formulas/questions with bullshit "Jamaal earned $5 from his drug run" context/storylines. How about you re-add the context where it is actually warranted, and give kids the benefit of the doubt that, if you teach them the fundamentals, adding "meters", "seconds", or "dollars" after a quantity is something they will naturally figure out anyway.
