All the companies making gaming pc handhelds are going to go out of business

@borrof @matrix Jesus Christ is it that bad? And it's meant to be a switch killer kek.
@Zealous @borrof @matrix The Switch batter is 2.5 to 6 hours depending on the game. Surely this thing can perform better if you use it to play a simple indie game. :blobthonkang:
@rasterman @borrof @matrix Surely, will have to see the reviews and what games you can actually play on it.
@rasterman @Zealous @borrof @matrix Isn't that the original (phased out) Switch model with the worst battery life? Even my launch day Switch could last 3 hours running Breath of the Wild, and something like Disgaea 5 lasted 5-6 hours in handheld mode. And the newer Switch models are supposed to have way better battery life than that.
@ChristiJunior @borrof @rasterman @matrix Idk what the energy demands of Nintendo games are compared to other AAA games but I think it'll be more for the valve deck
@Zealous @ChristiJunior @borrof @matrix Low. Even AAA titles like Smash or Odyssey don't have anti-aliasing. Noticeable in 50 inch 4K TVs; but meaningless in portable. Valve would have to demand special settings to get rid of all the extra effects that don't make a difference on a small screen. That would give it more battery time. Imagine losing an hour of battery because of those 8 layers of AA.

@matrix agreed but man it's still not enough. I've never wanted to buy a handheld since it had a very bad battery qualities. Unless the super-duper battery tech appears, handhelds nowadays will be forever considered lame

@borrof
Yeah, but it's not like you are going to be able to hold it in your hands for long.
I'm not aware of any super-duper battery being on the horizon.

@Zerglingman @borrof @matrix Let's talk when it's actually a working product.

Until then, assume it's all internal tests for fluff pieces, aimed at investors.

@matrix
I am still pissed all of the hendhelds are copying switch controls indtead of using this masterpiece..

@matrix
For now, I am using this thing:
m.alza.cz/gaming/evolveo-ptero

The weight is off when used with phone, but it does allow me a full gaming experience. Now all I need is some non-ad filled decent emulators or even better: A linux phone and my gaming needs are met...

@cowanon @matrix That is why I want a Linux phone... You won't get closer at that size...

@cowanon @matrix
Do you think that dosbox and gba/n64 emulators are not ready yet?

I want games, and compared to android shit, these things are pure gold.

@cowanon @matrix
And that is why my question was honest. I guessed you have experience.

So pinephone's not ready for basic use yet?
FUCK!!! :alexjonesfight:

@LukeAlmighty @matrix > So pinephone's not ready for basic use yet?

Absolutely correct. Waste of $200. I might as well have bought a Pixel and put GrapheneOS on it.
@cowanon @matrix My point exactly.
I've even taken to calling laptops and similar "pouch computers" or "pannier computers", because I can't get enough of overloading this acronym.
@Zerglingman @cowanon @matrix
ocular computer - google glass
wrist computer - smartwatch
pocket computer (female) - phone
pocket computer (male) - PC handheld
ankle computer - court-mandated GPS tracker
fanny computer - laptop
legside computer - desktop
druidic altar computer - rack-mounted server

@rasterman
I meant all of them except Valve and maybe GPD because they have a bigger portfolio.
