@matrix We have too many people in prison. There's no justification for it.
@matrix 5 minutes in and he admits that the prison system is not about rehabilitation because it "simply doesn't work" even tho across the ocean it works absolute wonders in lowering the crime rates. this individual is very much aware of the prison system being a legal and easy way of enslaving people to do labour which creates capital for whoever is manufacturing prison goods. the prison system works, for capitalists.

@tsumi because it never was and he addresses your point about other countries at the end.

@matrix I don't need to continue watching he's already wrong about what prisons should do and about the effectiveness of acting as a deterrent objectively. not even a discussion at this point.

@tsumi
I do not know where this idea comes from but the primary purpose of prison has always been incapacitation, then a deterrent and the small amount of rehabilitation that might happen was just a bonus.

@matrix @tsumi Prisons are bad because capital punishment for serious offenders and corporal punishment for minor offenders are more cost-effective. At least that's how the only remotely persuasive prison abolition argument I've heard goes.

@ArdanianRight @tsumi I'm fully against that, because you see too many wrong convictions and capital and corporal punishment are irreversible.

@SNEK
With the amount of feminists screaming rape, it's a valid argument
@ArdanianRight @tsumi

@matrix @ArdanianRight @tsumi most rape accusations do not end in conviction. And since we're already in fantasy land where we replace incarceration with flogging and executions let's say that the punishment for wrongful accusations matches that of conviction
@ArdanianRight @matrix @tsumi Basically every crime for which prison time is on the table could have the punishment replaced with floggings or execution, neither of which force people into a psychotic environment where they fester and likely become even worse
@tengumatingpress @ArdanianRight @matrix @tsumi I agree, although when we win, If I don't become Imperator I want to rule the prison themed principality where all enemies of the state end up working in insane factories.
I would display the tools so they can see them but not used them.
And I will provide them less calories they need to work just to encourage cannibalism.
I would also play dark ambient music like lustmord all day although I would do my best efforts to hide sunlight from them so they can't tell tell time.
I would ban clocks and regular schedules.
@basadeskaiser @ArdanianRight @matrix @tengumatingpress didn't you get caught with cp or something? you'd be an inmate pal not a director
@matrix it does all things horribly which is why the crime rate of the US sucks.

@tsumi Crime rate is going down, which you would know if you watched the video.

@matrix except it isn't because incapacitation only temporarily brings down crime rates until a new generation of dysfunctional people caused by the lack of adressing of core issues arises which may or may not be even more efficient in doing crimes since they learn from the past especially if their relative is in prison.

@tsumi
It's been consistently going down in for the last 30 years, that's plenty of time for the criminals to have kids and the kids to reach an age at which they are the mostlikely to commit crimes

@tsumi @matrix Don't let serious criminals reproduce and pass on their criminal tendencies to the next generation, simple. Low intelligence and poor impulse control are what create criminals, not underfunded preschools or whatever other bullshit leftists bitch about.
@ArdanianRight @matrix I felt my frontal lobe shrinking as I read this. anyways if you wanna apply unethical eugenics how about taking yourself out first? pretty sure your iq is below average
@tsumi @matrix I'm just saying what the root causes actually are and how to solve them. You can debate ethics all you like. (My IQ is well above average if you really want to know)
@ArdanianRight @matrix did an internet test tell you that by any chance? you're not addressing jackshit with your esoteric construct of a delusion about the "root causes". you're just another brainwashed nazi that thinks they've found the truth in whatever fits their narrow minded perspective about the world and it's complex issues. either ways take yourself out.
@tsumi @matrix Lolno. I've had actual IQ tests. What lowers crime rates isn't touchy-feely social programs, it's removing those genetically predisposed to crime from society.
@ArdanianRight @matrix ye ye blah blah blah nazi shit. whatever you deluded yourself to be the truth little buddy.
@tsumi @matrix Genetics exists and has a strong influence on all personality traits. The Soviets had 70+ years of nurture to engineer a New Soviet Man. Didn't work.
@ArdanianRight @matrix genetics only dictate a predisposition not a manifestation of behavioral traits. you'd know this if you knew what you were talking about. people may have a predisposition for certain behavioral patterns but nurture mitigates or even completely denies the outbreak of them.
@tsumi @matrix In pretty much every single study of adopted children, their life outcomes are more similar to:
@tsumi @matrix If nurture were as or more powerful than nature we'd see it pop up at least some of the time. Maybe if we're talking about growing up in a first world vs. third world country environmental differences there would be more of a point, but you don't really see it show up when it comes to gaps within first world countries.
well
wĕl
noun

A deep hole or shaft sunk into the earth to obtain water, oil, gas, or brine.
@matrix also just saying this because apparently it's not obvious from historical empirical evidence yet but deterring people through punishment has always been an inferior approach to positively reinforcing desirable behavior especially in socioeconomic contexts that promote crime.

@tsumi
That's indeed mostly true. However how do you positively stop someone from killing their rival in love?

@matrix the number 1 thing that stops people from doing any kind of crime is and always has been morals. if there's an incentive to be a moral person people are going to be moral. also very unique context since humans are social animals that prefer distance to peers with violent tendencies should they themselves not be violent.

@tsumi
Definitely but not everyone cares about morals or the benefit given by them seems comparatively small compared to gain.
>"prefer distance to peers with violent tendencies"
It's almost like that's the reason why prisons exist.

@matrix there's no need for prisons if such tendencies are socially mitigated by the natural depriving of psychological needs (social interaction, intimacy etc) and positive behavior enforced through the fulfillment of those. prisons are failing at both since the deterrent is clearly not strong enough with those crime rates.

@tsumi
Lmao. Don't overdose with that copium and stop this utopian thinking.
Also watch the video, crime is going down.

@tsumi @matrix

If it were possible to rehabilitate these people I wouldn't even want to. They don't deserve to have their lives improved. The purpose of the prison system is and has always been to punish evil, not to improve the lives of evildoers or mass manipulate crime rates.
@tsumi @matrix across the ocean the crime rates are lower because there aren't as many niggers
@matrix
He touches on the issue fairly well, some people simply are deviants (thank you pastor louis), no amount of moral teaching, disincentives and such can stop them from committing crime. Its a reality denied by many who think prisons dont work.
