@matrix I have an idea about what's going on. Face recognition algorithm are known for having difficulties distinguishing black faces (because of training bias and because neural networks work in mysterious ways), so maybe Twitter uses face recognition to choose how to center pictures. White faces are seen as more face-like than black faces, hence the racism.
