@matrix it's been fun watching clueless corporate projects like this crash and burn to be honest, makes good entertainment:

i'm sure whoever actually tried Stadia is hurting rn, but really they should have thought this kind of purchase through. hopefully it'll be educational for them.
@matrix @matrix damn they'll have to refund all of the 5 units that were sold
@matrix
Oh what? Google is shitting down another project? Im shocked.
:oh_no_bubble:
@matrix Stadia is being killed, as we expected. What's next? Android?
@sjw @matrix I want one of the controllers as a meme now so I can use it to play games Google wouldn't approve of like postal 2 and waifu simulators

@sjw @matrix
~3 years
It looks like it lasted as long as you can expect from a new Google service.

@alyx @sjw @matrix at least this time they didn't kill something a bunch of people loved
@alyx @matrix The best is when Google acquires a good service, doesn't do anything with it for months or years, and then shuts it down.
@alyx @sjw @matrix maybe it will return in the future just like google glasses

@tsugumi @sjw @matrix
You already have the equivalent service from Nvidia & Sony, so in a way it's still there.

@matrix @matrix
Who was the target audience for Stadia? Casuals? Hardcore gamers? Trying to attract mobile gamers? Making console games more mobile? Google had no idea what the point of Stadia was, like 90% of their products so no wonder it ended up failing. Compare that to the Steam deck which has an actual audience, purpose, and will keep working if Valve discontinues it.

@Doc_Wolverine Hipsters in the bay area who are living in an apartment so small and expensive they can't get a PC or console but have cheap and fast fiber.

@matrix Good: At least #Google didn't get to do to games what it did to video sharing with #Youtube
