old friend of mine who doesn't really express political views much can't add me on Mastodon. his instance blocked berserker.town. for someone who never has opinions, strict moderation isn't a problem. they don't even notice it. same is true of countries. you can live in an oppressive regime and not notice a problem until you open your mouth.
