You are forgetting that it needs to be redundant so you have to double your cost. A 6TB drive is like $250.

The Intel HD in the i7 should be able to do some encoding although I haven't figured out how and it would probably perform poorly.
I don't think a regular gaming graphics card could fit in a 1U rack (to keep colo cost down).

@kino Or collocation and holy crap I originally didn't look at how much has the exchange rate dropped. I just realized I pay only few € more for renting than I would for collocating.
