these metrics are wrong. I did not make this account 22 hours ago. direct linking to a post strips all the eunomia stuff out and uses the default mastodon UI for some reason.

we very much *want* new users to auto-follow specific accounts when they sign up for our instance.

not only do we populate their timelines, we use it to make announcements to the instance.

additionally, it is a weak way to get a notification when new users sign up.
