Bryan Lunduke had a great video about Devuan.

Devuan is great for freedom of choice. During install gives the user a choice between SysVinit, Runnit, and OpenRC. If you use the netinstaller option you also get a choice of desktop environments during install including XFCE, Cinnamon, Gnome, KDE, LXDE, LXQT and Mate. It can also easily be used with the libre kernel if one wanted to if you follow the instructions at FSFLA.

The project's main website is here:

The project has a forum and a presence on the fediverse:

@publiclewdness Glad to see Devuan was not a flash-in-the-pan as with a lot of anti-systemd projects that were coming out around when it showed up. Used it a few years during Jessie and ASCII and it's only gotten way better since then.

@arc

Yeah trying to get away from SystemD can be a real crapshoot at times. I have Devuan on my laptop and usually Artix on my gaming desktop although I'm giving Alpine a serious look. If Devuan had newer mesa and kernels i'd just use it for both, maybe when the next version is released I can.

the number of apps in alpine is very small, it's for docker, not for rl
