If you have played a game I would suggest adding your experience somewhere. Make sure to include issues, performance and system specs.

This week in KDE apps: we added the final touches to our applications for the KDE Gear ⚙️ 24.12.0, released KPhotoAlbum and KGeoTag, now based on Qt6; improved Itinerary's ticket extractor; and continued our work on Karp, KDE's new PDF editor.

I benchmarked Cyberpunk 2077 on Linux using the in game tool:

2560P/Highest/no Ray Tracing/DOF, Motion Blur and Film Grain Off/AMD Fidelity 3.0 set to Quality

Min | AVG | Max
70.74 | 101.28 | 130.24

Intel i5-12600K | 32GB RAM | Gigabyte RX 7800 XT 16GB | Linux Mint 22 | Mate 1.26.1 | Kernel 6.8.0-49-generic | Mesa 24.0.9-0ubuntu0.2 | Wine 10.0-rc1

Actually got about 20ish FPS higher across the board than on Artix which was weird.

Banan-OS: a hobby operating system in C++

via post boosted by @mirabilos

A hobby operating system as a learning experience, but for once not written in Rust, which in and of itself makes it more unique than you’d think. Despite being mostly a one-person hobby project, it’s ticked quite a few boxes already: SMP, network stack, copy-on-write memory, ELF loading, NVME and ATA support, PS/2 and USB peripheral support, a basic GUI, and a lot more.

Chawan - a web browser for your terminal

https://sr.ht/~bptato/chawan/

This is a new terminal-based web browser written in Nim, under active development. It's looking quite promising so far and many sites are rendering nicely. It already has HTML5/CSS/SSL, with many more features planned. It's very lightweight, with minimal dependencies.

Heya folks! It's Friday, and that means it's time for the weekly Solus roundup! This week, @gnome 47.2 has landed, as well as @kde Plasma 6.2.4 and Qt 6.8.1! Read all about it on our forums: discuss.getsol.us/d/11189-solu

After next week's sync, Solus will no longer run on kernels older than 5.15. This is because, with the release of kernel 6.12, we are bumping the `glibc` syscall baseline to 5.15, which will disable all code paths for older kernels. This only affects people who are compiling their own kernel, running Solus in a container, or otherwise using an old kernel, including `chroot`ing into Solus using a very old ISO. Our previous baseline was 5.10. This baseline is updated regularly, about once a year.

Just installed @brave on my #thinkpad #devuan laptop.
