Cherry Smiley, from the Nlaka’pamux (Thompson) and Diné (Navajo) Nations Indigenous Scholar Debunks “Two Spirit” Gender Concept As Colonial Fabrication

"Speaking to a packed “Feminists Speak Out” event in Burnaby last week, Canadian indigenous scholar and author Cherry Smiley, Ph.D., debunked the uncritically accepted “two spirit” gender jargon as a colonial fabrication having no basis in First Nations culture.

Smiley told the audience of two hundred that her research found that the “two spirit” expression was coined in 1990 by American indigenous gay rights activists to describe someone who is both gay and indigenous.

Transgender dogma upends the feminist position that women have been oppressed by men by positing that men can also be women.

“Women are f---king pissed off,” said a blunt and sometimes comical Smiley, who is from the Nlaka’pamux and Diné Nations.

Smiley, author of Not Sacred Not Squaws: Indigenous Feminism Redefined, was displeased that transgender activists have hijacked indigenous culture by claiming that the concept of “two or even three or four genders” is echoed in and validated by First Nations beliefs.

“First Nations women know where babies come from,” said Smiley to laughter and applause, underscoring her view that biological sex, not "gender," defines the indigenous worldview on male/female relationships.

Smiley elaborated, saying the idea of sharply divided sex roles, and the nebulous “gender” concepts that supposedly flow from those roles, were not rooted in traditional indigenous life.

Smiley painted a picture of indigenous women being required to be skilled in activities normally ascribed to men, such as hunting, out of the visceral motivation of survival. As such, Smiley contended, the idea of fluid or manifold genders was a colonial invention of “white men.”

One of my customers asked me about helping them get this XP Pen Artist Pro 14 (Gen 2) drawing tablet working with her laptop. She reported that it worked fine with her Android phone, but not with her laptop.

Responded asking for more details.

In the meantime, I looked up the drivers section on the manufacturer's website:

https://www.xp-pen.com/download/artist-pro-14-gen-2.html

Looks like they have driver downloads for a lot of Linux versions. Anyone used a tablet from XP Pen with Linux?

I'm curious about how well it works.

I benchmarked Cyberpunk 2077 on Linux using the in game tool:

2560P/Highest/no Ray Tracing/DOF, Motion Blur and Film Grain Off/AMD Fidelity 3.0 set to Quality

Min | AVG | Max
70.74 | 101.28 | 130.24

Intel i5-12600K | 32GB RAM | Gigabyte RX 7800 XT 16GB | Linux Mint 22 | Mate 1.26.1 | Kernel 6.8.0-49-generic | Mesa 24.0.9-0ubuntu0.2 | Wine 10.0-rc1

Actually got about 20ish FPS higher across the board than on Artix which was weird.
