I'm trying to make a game with
@solarus but the editor segfaults on #nixos ? Any help from anyone.

Good morning. I want to try my hand at game development. I think I have a good idea, but I need funding. Is there any platforms like kickstarter that are more #FOSS friendly?

#Fedilab 3.27-beta-1 has been published on our #FDroid repo (for beta testers).

This release should fix crashes with `TransactionTooLargeException`

These crashes happened randomly while using the app (opening a profile, taping the reply button, etc.)

To get this release, you must allow unstable updates on your FDroid app.

I've been doing more research on email servers and email hosting.

It would be great to talk with a Sys Admin who handles email for multiple domains and clients.

I am working with a company who has been doing web design and hosting for their web design clients since the '90s.

They hosted their email starting way back when and have been using the same email server pretty much ever since. It needs to be replaced soon.

The question is what to replace it with.

Host our own? And all the complications that come with that.

Manage the email but host somewhere else with a company that specializes in email? Such as MXroute:

https://mxroute.com

Host our own email IMAP accounts, but use a separate service for sending mail so we don't have to worry about deliver-ability?

Let me know if you have experience with a similar situation.

Good news to break the mess of the past day: Work on federating #Forgejo is ongoing. We are now one step closer to federated stars: codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/p

Federation is a key to resilient networks. We are looking forward to it.

Uhh, now what kind of device could be running mobian there??? 😉

Is this @fairphone really a #FairPhone5 ?!

An access to information (ATIP) request has confirmed that school districts in British Columbia experienced an absentee rate as high as 38% on the same day as a nationwide protest against the sexualization of kids in schools occurred last fall.

Linux Mint has released version 21.3. This updates the Cinnamon desktop to version 6.0; improves programs such as Warpinator and Hypnotix; adds experimental Wayland support; and more. 21.3 is still based off kernel 5.15 but there are Edge versions which chip with kernel 6.5 for those who need a newer kernel than 5.15. Linux Mint is a very user friendly distro and a great starting point if you are looking to switch from Windows or Mac to something more privacy and security focussed. Linux Mint currently ships with options for the Cinnamon desktop as well as Mate and XFCE.

The Linux Libre kernel has been updated to version 6.7. A whole bunch more blobs had to be removed to keep it fully libre. This continues to be one of the best kernels to use if privacy and security are your top concerns as it keeps closed source blobs to a miniumum that do God knows what.

Linux distro "Solus" has released version 4.5. Aside from various package updates there are other changes like an updated version of the Calamares installer that gives you extra file system choices such as BTRFS; offering the XFCE desktop as an option; dropping the Mate desktop; replacing PuleAudio with Pipewire; and more. Solus is an independent distro meaning that it isn't based on any other distro. You can download editions that ship with Budgie; Gnome; XFCE and Plasma. Solus is a curated rolling release which means that they won't have things that are bleeding edge but will be only a couple weeks behind usually. More up to date packages than a point release but less so than some other distros.

Solus does have a Mastodon presence:

The PDP-6 mainframe turns 60 years old this year. The legendary Incompatible Timesharing System (ITS) from MIT was born on this chonky 36-bit beast. The architecture paved the way for the later PDP-10, to which ITS also moved, which helped built out the early ARPANET days.

Matrix client "FluffyChat" has been updated to version 1.17.0. This update adds supports for Presences; ux changes; database changes; bug fixes; and more. The underlying technologies have also changed as FluffyChat from now on uses a whole new in-app database to cache messages and encryption keys locally. The code to FluffyChat is licensed using AGPL3.0. You can find FluffyChat on FlatHub; F-Droid; the AUR; and some distro repos.
