On my desktop workstation primary web browser I was trying out Mojeek as default search. Kept it on for over a week.

I found that for technical things that I was searching for, Mojeek didn't give helpful results.

When that happened, I manually went to search.brave.com and did the same search there and got more helpful results.

So I am switching the default to Brave search.

I also use DuckDuckGo as the default search on some of my computers, but over the last couple months the results with DDG have become less helpful and often location related garbage results having nothing to do with my search appear.

I really like the idea of curated web indexes, but to find what I am looking for I would probably still need some kind of search function.

Anyone know of a way to specifically search independent tech blogs?

For all of you Mastodon and Pixelfed experts out there; is it feasible to run a Mastondon instance, and/or Pixelfed instance at home and/or office? 🤔

I.e. it would not be reachable from the outside, but only push updates "upwards" and poll/fetch updates from "upstream"?

(Not sure I'd do this yet anyway, considering the fact that you still don't have "movable" accounts, last I checked, and I don't really feel like "re-locating" my Mastodon account.)
