Dagger with a Bear Head, from Pyhäjoki, Finland. Neolithic Stone Age (c. 5200-1800 BC). Collection: National Museum of Finland.🇫🇮

This artifact is a well-preserved dagger, its handle featuring a depiction of a bear’s head. Found during gravel extraction near a Stone Age settlement in Pyhäjoki, Finland, it is crafted from light-striped Scandinavian (Köli) red slate, a material common in the region. The dagger’s form is highly refined, with no apparent signs of wear, indicating that it was not used in everyday activities but may have held ritual significance.
