All important services have been migrated to the new server (thanks to @0xd9a for his precious help on that work).
We now have a faster and more reliable server for our services such the FDroid repo, translations, Nitter instance and Fediplan.
We would like to ask your help on #Opencollective so we can pay one year of server charges in one time (around 370 euros are needed).
Thank you for helping.

This week's donation went to the Alpine Linux project. Alpine is an independent distro that has support for x86, x86_64, ARM64, PowerPC, and more. Alpine uses OpenRC for it's init system and Ext4 for the file system. It doesn't come with a desktop environment installed but the user is free to install Gnome, Plasma, Xfce, Mate, Sway, or Lxqt. Installing the desktop is as simple as typing "setup-desktop" and choosing which desktop to install and then the system takes care of the rest. Alpine uses APK for it's package manager. Alpine Linux was designed for power users that desire a more security minded approach. All userland binaries are compiled as Position Independent Executables with stack smashing protection. This helps prevent exploitation of entire classes of various vulnerabilities. The installer is text based but is quite user friendly and isn't much more difficult than most other Linux installers.

This is especially useful when trying to run certain apps on a mobile Linux phone that you can't get otherwise. The Android runtime environment ships with a minimal customized Android system image based on LineageOS. The code is licensed using GPLv3.0. The program can be compiled from source on Github, comes preinstalled on certain distros such as FuriOS or there are install instructions available on the project website.

@contrapunctus wants to raise funds to be able to work on specific issues in various #FreeSoftware projects
Unfortunately, India has restrictions on foreign donations and we couldn't find a suitable platform, so thought maybe a fiscal host could collect #donations which can then be "billed" for. Other suggestions welcome too ️

qmk.fmQuestion about #OpenCollective, if anyone knows:
What's the difference between an "Organization" and a "Collective"? Can people contribute financially to an Organization in the same way they can with a Collective?
I set up a Collective for the instance I run, but could only contribute to another Collective as an Organization, so I set up a separate Organization. Now I have to transfer money between them, which is a pain. Can I just ditch the Collective and have people donate to the Organization?
