Portland is so fucked right now. The government is "disappearing" people. I don't ever want to hear the right-wing utter the word "freedom" again unless they're against this: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/07/18/opinions/portland-anonymous-security-forces-mark-of-dictatorship-ghitis/index.html

@alex Is there a different way we want the feds to arrest the members of a terrorist organization? 🤔

@realcaseyrollins I mentioned this in the comments already, but I'm not opposed to people being arrested for breaking a law. I'm opposed to the government breaking the law. This should concern any free-thinking individual, if we don't play into tribe dynamics.

@alex @realcaseyrollins How is the government breaking the law? These people were witnessed participating in a riot and were then arrested.

@Korsier @alex Well one could probably argue that if they didn't commit a crime it's unlawful imprisonment? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Those claims are amplified if those people get released without charges too

@realcaseyrollins @alex Aren't these the same rioters who have been setting buildings on fire and shooting off fireworks at police?

@Korsier @alex yes.

But these are tricky! According to Donut Operator, theyre getting arrested because they were being violent in a crowd and the officers waited until the crowd dispersed to arrest them.

Tough part is, even tho the officer may see someone doing to crime, it can be hard to get enough info to lead to an indictment.

@realcaseyrollins @alex I think it's smart waiting for them to leave before arresting them. As we've seen, comforting the mob directly leads to more violence and therefore the risk of casualties on both sides.
