Today is a very special day. It was exactly 10 years ago today, my human brought me home to live with her. I was only eight weeks old and very small. I’ve come a long way since then. #foreverhome #anniversary #flashbackfriday #catsoftwitter

The mayor has chosen wisely to bend the knee to Warlord Raz lest he take over more of her city. Mayor Jenny Durkan: @realdonaldtrump The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone #CHAZ is not a lawless wasteland of anarchist insurrection - it is a peaceful expression of our community's collective grief and their desire to build a better world. Given his track record, it's not hard to believe that Trump is wrong, yet again. twitter.com/MisterAntiBully/st #Trump

Full-List..

Teaching college educated men how to thread a bolt into a hole or that brass can't be picked up with a magnet grows tiresome.

@realcaseyrollins Ah thanks for that, today though quite near the time at which I sleep, I was actually able to exert myself and get things done significantly quicker that I can actually feel it physically in my head; it feels like when you give your muscles a well-need stretch but in the head

@nonetrix@neckbeard.xyz Not terribly. It has these flowing colored lines that move to where your finger is when you touch the screen and scatter when you let go. So it takes up some RAM and uses your battery a bit.

@nonetrix@neckbeard.xyz I love its minimalism. I didn't favorite any apps so only like four or five are on the homescreen. Super cleam, and fun when you use the AMOLED live wallpaper (which I admit I'm not using at the moment, for battery life reasons)

@globcoco

Qoto has a modified and VERY nice Wide Screen theme -- one of only two instances I had seen at the time.

I have collected dozens of screenshots, and only Qoto and Todon would give me this -- screenshot below.

The additonal niceness of suppressing the left side panel completely, and putting reply boxes right under any posts, those are Escuero's work -- and made possible by using his neat Collapsed Mastodon addon for Firefox or chrome.

It's done at runtime, and it would be optimal if the local theme incorporated the CSS mods Escuero's work does.

But that needs someone with the skill and time to handle that.

My goal is to see if Glitch devs will see it as useful and take these in -- honestly, they are great ideas and improve the Mastodon experience greatly.

Won't wait for Eugen, as he's got his own ideas and too much to do already.

@realcaseyrollins A change in environment can change everything.

For example, I learned that some people keep lions as house pets, and once researched what it would take. Apparently you need a huge amount of space for the lion to run around, things to climb and jump on, places to hide, etc. Without these things, the lion becomes depressed.

I think people are like that too. A lot of depression we face is not due to chronic mental illness (some of it might be), but rather due to living in an environment not conducive to happiness.

The idea of "designing a new environment" is foundational to who I am and what my politics are. This is why I've always been more left-leaning in my politics, and why the idea of "radical" politics (ie changing things "at the roots") attracts me.

I think there are just some ways of doing things we haven't discovered yet.

@alex What about creating highly isolated instances, fostering the community and tailoring it to only nice people, and slowly adding instances to the whitelists?

That might help keep the timelines kinder. Although that opposes my "world wild west" sensibilities, a community designed in this way is necessary, in a sense.

Kinda the point of my Gleasonator alt tbh
