Yep. We normie protestors were warned about them at the FTAA protests in Quebec City 2001.

> sophistry isn't necessarily deliberately misleading or mendacious.

It's what the word means, that's the way it's been for a hundred years at least. $current_year Merriam-Webster: "subtly deceptive reasoning or argumentation", 1913 Webster "an impostor in argument; a captious or fallacious reasoner." If that's not how it was intended, objection withdrawn, but :objection1::objection2: that's what the word *means*. :objection:

> its about racism.

Racist fish! Elk! It's about Year Zero.

Of course, when Mao denounced a skeleton, that wasn't about destroying culture and history, that was about eradicating imperialism and exploitation. Year Zero explains the racist fish and the evil, racist elk, and a cover story for either of those is nothing new. Of course, you can tut-tut the official story

> not everything is a commie plot.

People waving the black-and-red and doing Year Zero shit are walking like ducks and quacking like ducks. You wouldn't remember this, but Antifa broke windows and burned shit after Obama got elected, too. First time I remember seeing the Black Bloc in the news, although it can't be the first time it happened. This same group of people have been attempting Year Zero as long as I've been around. They do this shit at the G7 summits. It's not about racism. A statue sculpted by a dead man cannot oppress you unless it falls on you.

I've been assuming good faith, and acting in good faith, I don't think we have a reason to start on that.

> Confederate monuments are kept to glorify an imagined irenic interbellum era, halcyon days where black people were good cattle.

We can keep them for a different reason than they were built, exactly like Auschwitz; I think it's a completely valid comparison, but it's a red herring to even start on the Confederacy thing.

> Quit lumping me in with iconoclastic ancoms, you know better than that.

I'm not, but let's say I will take care not to. I *am* lumping you in with the people that are pretending this was ever about the Confederacy. It has not been.
@georgia @cowanon @Rude @jojo @realcaseyrollins

> i thought he was defending confederate statues, but he was talking about nermaids.

I don't like the Confederacy but I am strongly pro-statue, every statue. Confederate statues, mermaids, all of it. The remark about the mermaid statues was because the claim that this has anything to do with the Confederacy is ridiculous.

They wanna take a statue down, sure. They wanna have a mob take a statue down, fuck 'em. It's not about the Confederacy. It never was That is a shield to turn the conversation into exactly the one we're having.

And the "Shouldn't a mob tear down Confederate statues?" is stupid anyway. Auschwitz is still there. Sign still says "Arbeit macht frei". Why whitewash the Confederacy? It's history, even the parts we think of as mistakes.

The goal is Year Zero, it's explicit, it's been explicit since the beginning.

@Orakel @ChristiJunior @Prodigal @Elfie@neckbeard.xyz @zigg There are certain realities that must be realized. Race, sex, age...these are things that can't be changed. But you're not defined by these things, you're defined by what you do.

Are you loving? Kind? Religious? Sports fan? Music lover? That says more about who you are than the hue of your skin.

if you elect me president i'll change the US's name to the United States Super Republic

@Elfie@neckbeard.xyz @ChristiJunior @Orakel @zigg I agree that it's nonsense but I don't think being an enby means you're narcissistic, necessarily.
