@thor@mstdn.social @Mitsu while that's originally true, this didn't even apply throughout the entirety of the Old Testament. Exodus 12:48-49 makes this clear, saying:
"And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it. One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you."

But denominations of Christianity like Catholicism (if you can call it a denomination but I say it's way too different from Christianity) are definitely more heavy-handed and use short-sighted and context-free interpretations of the text to excuse certain practices. I think it's pretty disgusting because if you take the time to check it out, that's not what God actually meant. I think some of these interpretations are deliberately faulty, which makes it even worse.

@freemo I'm not a member of your server, so it makes no difference to me, but IMO, you can set a server preference for English without a firm "no foreign language posts" rule. One potential benefit is that if one of your server's members wants to learn another language and practices by occasionally posting in the other language, you don't necessarily have a rules violation to ignore or correct.
@thor@mstdn.social @Mitsu I mean, I could see why one might think that. However, the "pull-out" method has been around since like 1 Kings IIRC (the guy who did it was Onan, I believe), so that's not entirely accurate.

The moderators didnt raise any objections to you being a moderator, the next step would be to put your nomination up to the community for comment. After we hear community comments we will make a final decision and in that time you can begin learning the ropes and showing how you'd behave as a moderator (help us welcome people, contribute to discourse discussions, etc).
At that point if the community and us still like what we see we will give you moderator privileges on a probationary basis, and then shortly after that youll be a full moderator if all goes well.
