Imagine a fact-check website that's not so blatantly biased
Two barriers to the success of the #Fediverse:

2. People who have heard of it don't understand it
Like, people talk about all kinds of things here...you can have one corner of the fedi where it's all furries, another that's all politics, yet another that geeks out over tech
most alt platforms are purely political but this one isn't. what he have here, it's something special.
Like a lot of people here are weird, but that's just an outgrowth of that

Programming was really, REALLY hard before the Internet. If you couldn't figure something out, you might just have to give up. I can't count the number of times I've solved a problem because of information on the Internet that I NEVER could have figured out on my own.
I remember trying to program on the C64 and just running into brick walls constantly. I still remember some of the problems, that could have been solved if I had a mentor. In retrospect my parents could have found me a mentor, but nobody thought of it I guess.
