censoring and punishing speech has ALWAYS led to that speech becoming more popular.

@beardalaxy literally no, or else the US wouldn't be such cucks

@tomie i'm not saying it will be a majority opinion or anything, but it will become more popular.

@tomie do you have examples of censored speech becoming less popular? because i have seen the opposite happen over and over.

@beardalaxy we're here in this corner of the internet, practically isolated, when everything that's allowed here used to be the norm on the 'big' net
you being here instead of twitter is literally the proof and example

@tomie just because things have to move to different spaces does not mean they aren't becoming more popular.

if you look on twitter and instagram now, after censorship was massively loosened, the amount of stuff that they had censored before is posted in much higher frequency than it ever was.

i don't think we would have nearly the same amount of people questioning vaccines, or talking about "statistics," or criticizing jews/israel, anti-lgbtq shit, etc. if those things weren't massively censored before. censoring things makes people start thinking about it more. i've even seen holocaust denial escape to normies in some small ways. there is a reason why all of these groups are freaking the fuck out right now. these opinions are absolutely becoming more popular.

personally, i didn't leave twitter or fb because of censorship specifically. i left because i didn't like the culture over there. extending that, the culture there was a result of the censorship, but i'd probably be a lot more comfortable over there now. not more than here though so that's why i'm still here.

@beardalaxy they didn't "become more popular", they already were popular before getting banned, otherwise they wouldn't ban it
of anything, this proves they became much less popular
