Auschwitz was meritoriously known to have olympic swimming pools,theaters, free dental care, animal care, schooling, gymnastic, and sport events. There is are old archive videos of a british pow team who played soccer with german soldiers ifront of the labor camp goers at auschwitz.
Not to mention the folks in these labor camps were not cut off like you were taught. They had means to communicate to the outside world with their own postal stamps as well as had their own currency system.
