I'd rather buy a Sonic racing game because Sonic has a cast of characters who are actually characters, while Mario has....... Mario, green Mario, metal Mario, a shroom, baby Mario, and maybe a couple of princesses?

there's something to be said about over-indulging in extreme convenience i think. you gotta have some self control if you want to buy nicer things. some people are spending $50+ a week in delivery fees alone. i had a roommate who would get uber eats twice a day. really not good for the wallet. people acting like budgeting isn't a thing people have done forever, which very frequently involves cutting fast food and curbing addictions. like, how many of these people complaining about mkw's price dropped $100 on their gacha game of choice last month? yknow what i'm saying?
@beardalaxy people love vaporwave because it's a nostalgia about a promised future, and the future we were promised was one of economic stability, not the one where people scrape by refusing food in order to buy a Mario game and uber eats deliverers raise more than college graduates
boomers never had to exercise any self-control or budget unless they wanted something grand
and those who drop thousands into pngs of barely dressed underage girls come from the same place as suspiciously rich furries, they don't need to budget either
@beardalaxy well, with food deliveries you at least get food, but with Mario Kart you'll get only Mario Kart
@tomie this isn't something where i'm like "oh you should eat nothing but sandwiches and rice for every meal since that's the cheapest!" it's just... maybe don't order food deliveries every day. that burns a hole in anyone's pocket, whether it's 2025 or 1995.
my point is that people see the $80 price tag and freak out but they don't realize they are getting milked dry by other things in their life that probably aren't worth it.
