poast is like a candle in the dark. some last bastion of hope of what it used to be.

it sucks but i think in the future we're gonna have to go to TOR and carve out some niche that doesn't revolve around child abuse.

you realize that Poa.st is just 1 server that is part of thousands of others that form the Fediverse, right?
you realize that the people who control all social media are scheming for a way to destroy the Fediverse, right?
@wizard_problems @Irishblackpilled

How can they? We are a Hydra. #FediBlock from Mastodon only made us better and stronger
@verita84 @wizard_problems @Irishblackpilled Mastofags are extremely limited in what they can actually do to the free side of Fedi. The worst was some gayops to take down neckbeard.xyz but it was reborn as bae.st. Fedi is censorship-resistant by design.

@ArdanianRight @Irishblackpilled @wizard_problems @verita84 The only thing that would be better is a fully P2P network like Bastyon or Twister. Then we wouldn't have the problem of taking down instances.

bastyon.com

that's my only worry. hosting is an exercise all its own, we're reliant on that single point of failure. not even just in terms of guys like graf saying fuck it and taking their toys and going home, logistically, technologically as well. something totally user based seems like the path forward when considering that.
@wizard_problems @ArdanianRight @xianc78 @Irishblackpilled

If you ever want to host your own Pleroma instance, hit me up. It's what I do. You can build your own community and decentralize further. Too many people are on the few big instances and that defeats the point
i'm kind of inbetween on that because i do have some aspirations to be a streamer/content creator (as a hobby, not a career) and bringing in other likeminded creators into a diaspora of sorts. but that's a very longterm thing.

i don't really have the pull to create my own community, but for me it would simply be a logistic issue of not being reliant on graf for fedi access. not that i have any issues with graf, but i initially joined the fediverse on the Kiwifarms instance and trannies DDOS that all the time. meaning my entire access to the fediverse was reliant on whether or not trannies were DDOSing it at the time. and so, what happens when trannies go after graf, or graf decides he's going to take his cryptobucks and go home, etc. (i've seen the retarded shit he's had to deal with, as someone who has had to manage a large community of retards, i empathize and do not envy his position)

to me that's kind of the hurdle to overcome. sure fedi seems super cool right now but at the end of the day we're reliant on hosts. making the issue of hosting as painless and retard-proof as possible is the main hurdle i see. and i assure you, i am a colossal fucking stupid retard.
@wizard_problems @ArdanianRight @xianc78 @Irishblackpilled

Yeah you are right. A lot of people just do a single user instance which is cool. Smaller instances are better.

If you made your own, you can set your own rules and be less of a target to DDOS attacks. If you host with me, I do all the technical stuff and you just enjoy the instance from the website. It will be painless
but then i'm reliant on you, which is still the same problem. in the longterm there's some way to make all of this as retard proof as possible so every branch comes together to form an uncensorable faggot.
@wizard_problems @ArdanianRight @xianc78 @Irishblackpilled

Then you would have to host it yourself on a VPS or at home. I have a mostly-retard-proof way of installing a Pleroma instance without any effort

If you feel like it, you can make a backup account on my instance. It's pretty easy to export who you are following to another instance as insurance (too bad there's no way to import followers!)

@wizard_problems @ArdanianRight @Irishblackpilled @verita84 Bastyon (previously known as PocketNet) is blockchain based like LBRY. The site is just a web client for the network but you can also download a client for desktop and mobile so you can still use it even if the site is down.

It does have community moderation however (this is to prevent spam and CP). Experienced users can flag content and users with a negative reputation will have their accounts shadow-banned (no content is deleted because its on a blockchain), but I haven't seen anyone use it to silence people they disagree with.

>but I haven't seen anyone use it to silence people they disagree with.

that's the thing. they will. if that network gets popular at all, they will come, and they will do this, and they will ruin it. whether its jews themselves doing it, or NPCs acting out their programming, they will do it.
i have no love for the kind of extreme content that these safeguards exist to protect against, but it's getting to the point that i would rather exist on networks that allow it than deal with jewish control censoring me. which is ironic because those same jews perpetuate and consume that kind of content. but i don't know anymore.

@wizard_problems @ArdanianRight @Irishblackpilled @verita84 If I were to create such a network, my solution would be that you would only seed media from people that you follow so any illegal stuff won't be on your computer unless you explicitly follow them.

At the very least, make it so that you can't see that stuff if you are viewing the network from the website. I know that's the solution with Odysee and LBRY.
