Well my landlord came by with the Orkin man and I asked her about the pet deposit.
(Cornbread was locked in my room and luckily kept quiet)

She said that before I get the animal I need to pay the deposit and provide records that it's up to date on all of its shots. Also there are weight limits. I said it's a cat so weight limits shouldn't be an issue. Then she said, "Oh then it needs to be declawed or defanged or whatever it is you do to cats. I don't really know what all is in the policy. I'll get you a copy of the policy."

That has me worried. I hope she's just mistaken about that but if cats are required to be declawed then I'm definitely going to challenge that. Shouldn't be hard to get a note from the doctor that says that's actually animal abuse. Especially since even the humane society and ASPCA say so as well.

Gonna have to call the vet to get a quote for how much all of this will cost.

Still, I can't imagine the policy requires cats to be declawed. That'd just be bonkers.

@Loki @7 @tomey @p @nik @emma @echo @nobu @coin @dave @m0n5t3r alright, I just picked up a copy of the policy. Apparently it's several pages.
Gonna read through it at work.

Also, for everyone mad at my landlord, she didn't make these rules. She just works here. I doubt she'll really care either way.

They don't require proof of it tho and I doubt they'll inspect his paws. If I'll ask the vet and when she says no and why if they ask I'll just give the vet's answer. I doubt it'll be that big of a deal.

Looks like I will have to get him neutered tho :feelsbadman:

@Ace66062 @7 @Beekeeper @Flick @Loki @alyx @coin @dave @dew_the_dew @echo @emma @get @internetfreak @lanodan @lewdthewides @lottev @m0n5t3r @nik @nobu @p @pops @tangleofsnakes @tomey @wildgoose @xianc78 It's all laminate flooring. Only kitchen appliances and mini blinds are pre-furnished. Literally nothing a cat's claws could tear up. Shit like bed, rugs, shower curtain, couch, chairs, etc. are all things I have to furnish and own. Cat claws only put my own stuff at risk and none of theirs.
@sjw @7 @Beekeeper @Flick @Loki @alyx @coin @dave @dew_the_dew @echo @emma @get @internetfreak @lanodan @lewdthewides @lottev @m0n5t3r @nik @nobu @p @pops @tangleofsnakes @tomey @wildgoose @xianc78 sorry should have mentioned I suggested still trimming the claws in case of the very very rare instance someone tries to piss her off and she attacks but now that I think about it, that might not prevent much damage
@Ace66062 @7 @Beekeeper @Flick @Loki @alyx @coin @dave @dew_the_dew @echo @emma @get @internetfreak @lanodan @lewdthewides @lottev @m0n5t3r @nik @nobu @p @pops @tangleofsnakes @tomey @wildgoose @xianc78 Do you think I'd have a friend over, my cat would scratch them, and they'd complain to the people in the apartment office or something?
@sjw @7 @Beekeeper @Flick @Loki @alyx @coin @dave @dew_the_dew @echo @emma @get @internetfreak @lanodan @lewdthewides @lottev @m0n5t3r @nik @nobu @p @pops @tangleofsnakes @tomey @wildgoose @xianc78 no I just thought someone like a friend would provoke the cat even if it wasn't intensional and someone at the staff would find out about it attacking someone, like I said it was a very very unlikely scenario and I guess I was overthinking it
